Adventure #28: College Grads

"You are graduating from college. That means that this is the first day of the last day of your life. No, that's wrong. This is the last day of the first day of school. Nope, that's worse. This is a day." - Andy Samberg

April 23-24, 2015

I'm warning you now, there are going to be a lot of pictures on this post. It took me a while to realize it, but I am just so proud of us for graduating college. That sounds so conceded, but I'm starting to understand what great accomplishment it is for us. It was even sweeter because we were able to share it and graduate together.

The first day of graduation was commencement which turned out to be a mixture of a few golden nuggets from the speakers and extreme boredom. Don't get me wrong, the speakers weren't bad or anything, but no one really talked about concepts that applied to college graduates.... which I thought was the whole point... but maybe I'm just picky. lol  For example, one of the main speakers spent the entire time talking about all the different things we could change to improve BYU, like focusing more on religion in non-religion classes and such. I would love to improve BYU, but seeing as we are never coming back to BYU, it just wasn't applicable. Honestly the best part of the day was just walking next to Jordan in our caps and gowns.  :)

Jordan always finds a way to make life more exciting.

My dad, Ryan, and my mom were able to attend Commencement.

Thanks to my mom, we got some "glamour shots" in our caps and gowns. I'm so glad she was there to make us take extra pictures. I would be so sad if I didn't have all these pictures.

Jordan's first attempt at his "glamour shot"...

My man is just so cute.  :)

Jordan made sure that we did our pose.  :)

On our way to the car we walked through the Tanner Building which has every country's flag hanging up. So naturally we had to find the Colombian flag and take a picture!

And a video...

After Commencement, my family (parents and little brother) went to Salt Lake to meet up with Jordan's family (parents, brother, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins). It was a lot of fun to have both of our families together again. And it was nice to eat a good meal after walking/standing for hours.

The second day of graduation was the convocation. Even though Jordan and I were graduating from different schools, we were able to get permission for Jordan to walk with me and my school (School of Education). It worked out very nicely because my school was significantly smaller and the convocation exercises didn't take too long. We heard that Jordan's school (School of Life Sciences) had tons of people and so it took a long time.

The only downside to walking with my school was that it was at 8 in the morning so we were supposed to be there at 7 in the morning. Even though we lived across the street, we didn't show up until 7:30ish. I mean, how long does it take to pick up a name card and stand in line? Definitely not an hour, so that's why we figured 30 minutes was plenty of time (which it was). It felt like we were waiting forever for the convocation to start!

I honestly don't remember any of the speakers. I remember the faculty sang a song and that we walked across a stage! haha It was really neat to have our names read consecutively. They even announced that he was my husband and announced his degree.

It really was a blast walking with my bestie. :)

We were blessed to have a lot of family there to support us that morning: Jordan's parents, little brother, Aunt, and Uncle. And then we had my parents, brothers, Grandmother (my mom's mom), Grandpa (my dad's dad), Uncle and two cousins. We were so grateful that so many people came to see us graduate. I love them all so much and I'm glad we got pictures with everyone who came.  :)

I really wanted to get a picture in front of a BYU sign and my brothers and cousin were so nice to walk all the way to this sign so we could take a picture. :)

After convocation and pictures were finished, we all went to mine and Jordan's favorite place to celebrate: Macaroni Grill. It was great to have even more family together to eat and chat. And once again, my pregnant body was grateful for sitting and eating. :)
