Adventure #93: Our First Christmas and New Years on Our Own (without family)

"Like snowflakes, my Christmas memories gather and dance - each beautiful, unique, and too soon gone." - Deborah Whipp

December 18-31, 2016

Our first Christmas on our own was pretty good. It was different not spending it with family (although we did plenty of Facetime with our families). It was quiet and cozy. There were things we liked about it, but we also missed having family near. One of the biggest blessings was that we spent Christmas at the Sikahema's while they were out of town. So we had a nice home, a beautiful Christmas tree, and lots of space for Maria.

I think the worst part about this Christmas was that Maria was terribly sick and only last about 10 minutes opening gifts. Poor girl. Fluid was coming out of every part of her little face and her cough sounded just awful.

Naturally Maria received more than Jordan and I combined. lol  But we like it that way.

The rest of the day was spent just trying to keep this sick girl happy. We watched movies, held her while she slept and tried to get her to eat at least a little bit of food.

A couple days after Christmas Maria was finally able to explore and play with all of her new things! It was so funny because she really didn't remember anything from Christmas morning. It was like it never happened! haha

She started to feel better and spent lots of time rolling around on this carpet just like Charlie does.

Philadelphia had an early firework show for New Year's so we took advantage. We almost made it to the park, but had some minor issues and ended up just having to pull over and watch it from where we were. Still had a lot of fun though!
