Adventure #45: My Birthday (Philly Style)

"Family is not an important thing. It's everything." - Michael J Fox

September 2015

Jordan planned my birthday and as usual, it was a surprise. He never tells me anything about our dates and I love him for it. The first place we showed up at was the Museum of Arts in Philadelphia. We walked in through the back and the walk was so green and pretty!

Maria was excited to check out the exhibits as well.  :)

The museum was amazing! One of our favorite places was this courtyard. It felt like we had stepped into the past. All the stones from the arches and fountain were from the same courtyard that was built in the 13th or 14th century (now I can't remember!).

In order to check out the Impressionist exhibit, we had to check it our stroller and use one of the museum's baby carriers. As you can tell, Maria was way too small for it. Her head barely reached the arm hole. We got a good laugh out of it.  :)

The Impressionist exhibit was breathtaking. Most of the artwork had never left Europe before this tour. There were paintings from all the names you've heard of: Monet, Renoir, Manet, Degas, Cezanne, and so many more. They were all so beautiful! It also helped that I had taken a couple art history classes in college so I could really appreciate everything.

Before we left the museum, we HAD to take pictures from the front of the museum. For the great view...

... And of course to get a Rocky picture!

It was fun taking those pictures because we weren't the only ones! haha And do you see all the people working out on the steps? Ya, no judgement, so no shame.  :)

Our last stop of the day was Pat's. I had never had a Philly Cheesesteak from Philly before, so Jordan made it happen. I was so nervous to order because Jordan told me that if you take too long, they make you go to the back of the line (there are always tons of people there so they have to keep things moving). The only problem was that I couldn't see the whole menu until we were the second people in line. Don't worry, I was able to order just fine, but I was so stressed! haha Can you see how the line wraps around the building? Well, the wait and the stress was worth it because it was soooo good!

We were already loving the east coast, but this day made us love Philadelphia that much more.  :)
