"How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." - Winnie the Pooh
July 2015
After all our family left, it was just our little family of three in a bare apartment. The moving truck was coming in the afternoon and so the night before, Jordan packed all of our boxes backwards in the corner of our apartment so that it would be easier to put everything in the truck. It took him hours and he wouldn't let me help at all. I was just starting to walk normally without too much pain, but Jordan refused to let me lift anything except our baby.
We had quite a few family and friends help put our things in the truck and it took less than 30 minutes (thanks to all of Jordan's hard work)! It was weird seeing our apartment empty again, and knowing that the next time we would see this stuff was in New Jersey. We were so fortunate to be able to rent part of a truck and have it driven cross country for us.
This was our last look at the truck and our apartment while we drove away... for good! It was crazy to think that we would never live in that apartment again, and most likely not live in Utah again.
Jordan and I got a little emotional as we got on the freeway. There was a gorgeous sunset as we were leaving Provo. We couldn't help thinking that just like the sun setting and the day finishing, our time in Utah was also done. It was sad to think about the many friends and family we would be leaving, taking only our sweet memories. We were definitely sad, but also excited to start a new chapter in our lives.
This little pumpkin loved spending time with Jordan's family.
Especially Grandma Brassell. :)
Grandma Brassell also helped Maria to look like a little lady.
Unfortunately, we were only able to spend a few days at Jordan's parents before we had to leave. While we were there, Jordan's little sister had her baby! We loved being able to see pictures of sweet Eden with Jordan's family.
Before we started our cross country trek, we had to visit Maria's doctor for her two week check up. She was very healthy and finally gaining weight. Also, her jaundice was completely gone. The pediatrician was so kind and gave us a ton of formula, including some ready-made formula for the road. The only concern we had was her digestive system. She had thrown up a lot a few days before the appointment so we switched her to a soy formula. The doctor said it was normal to take a few extra days, so we tried not to worry about it too much.
One of the best memories of staying at Ashley and Austin's was seeing Maria bite Jordan's nose. I was laughing while Jordan was wincing in pain, and Maria was none the wiser. haha Also, that same night, Jordan had fallen asleep with Maria but she woke up a couple hours later. So I got up and fed her and took care of her so that Jordan could sleep. I even put her to sleep. Then Jordan came running in the room after Maria and I had been asleep. Panicked, he whispered, "Where is she?!?!" To which I responded groggily, "What?!?" It was an extremely groggy conversation, but he finally realized the baby was safe. haha He actually did that quite a few times during the first month. Jordan does not do too well without sleep. lol :)
